Family Violence

• To enable participants to increase their understanding of intimate partner violence and the difference between adult domestic violence and child abuse. They will understand the prevalence and historical context.

• Participants will be able to understand the dynamics of domestic violence, tactics of abuse, barriers to safety, and introduced to effective (and dangerous) intervention strategies.

• Participants will learn practical skills such as screening, interviewing, and safety planning.

• Participants will understand the impact of domestic violence on victims and their children.

• Participants will understand and identify effective local resources for victims of domestic violence and be able to make appropriate referrals.
